Little Miss Smarty Pants

The wonderful age of 2

Natalie has moved to a new room and while she is loving it she is having trouble listening. In fact, she went to the office 3 times in one day this week. She will not sleep more than an hour at nap time and then will go around waking all of her friends. She has also started kicking us when we try to change her clothes… not good. So this week she was kicking Joe and he told her that if she did not stop that she was going to go to time out. She looked right at him and kicked him again. Needless to say, little miss went to time out. She was there until she would say sorry for kicking Daddy… that stubborn child sat there for 45 minutes crying and saying "not sorry" and then finally said… "I am done crying, sorry Daddy" Got down and played until she was ready for bed.

This may be a long year!

Ready????

WOW! Over a month… sorry. A lot has gone on.

First we went to Dallas. My parents had a party to show off Natalie and she did not disappoint. She performed great. Unfortunately Joe and I were both sick. I was well by the time we got home but Joe was still pretty sick. He thought he was feeling well enough the following week and went for a bike ride… BIG MISTAKE! He ended up even sicker than before. He had a chest x-ray and was told that they could not get a clear enough picture and needed to a CT scan. When that came back he was given the all clear on his lungs BUT not for his liver. There seemed to be some blood pooling in his live for an unknown reason, the doctors took 5 vials of blood and sent him for an ultrasound. We got the results from the blood work and the US this week and the liver now seems to be clear but there is a problem with his blood work and now they seem to think he has an autoimmune issue. He goes on the 16th for more information on that. I will let you all know when we do.

While all of the above was going on we were also dealing with my Grandmother dying. She had an infection that started in her foot and just continued to go through her. My mother took some time off of work and stayed by her side along with my moms brothers and sister. They were all with her when she passed on March 13th. My father, being the numbers guy he is, figured out that she lived 4 days longer than my fathers mother who passed away in '99. The worst part of losing my Grandmother was that Natalie will never know her as I did. She loved Natalie more than anything and Natalie adored her GreatGram. At the funeral home as the family was saying their last goodbyes Natalie was holding her Yum Yum's (M&M's) and decided that she would lay some next to GreatGram for when she woke up from her nap since we were not going to be there when she got up. GreatGram will be missed a lot.

As for Natalie's health…. It seems as though her immune system is kicking in and has fought the infection. She is sleeping and the coughing is now minimal.

We have new neighbors that have a daughter that is 1 year and 2 days younger than Natalie. Natalie has not grasped that Emma is younger. We are having a great time with them but miss the old neighbors, Kyle, Kelly and Karsyn.

I just got back from a wonderful vacation with my mother in law and 2 sister in laws. We went to a spa in Phoenix called Camel Back Inn. It was nice to just relax by the pool and spend some down time with them.

Here are Natalie's latest pictures.

Asthma... no, that would be too easy!

This has not been a good couple of weeks for the McGuire's.

Natalie has been coughing since she had her tonsils out in Sept. so after Christmas we took her to the doctor. She put her on yet another round of antibotics. They did not work. We went back and were told that she thought it was asthma. I asked for a chest x-ray and found that she had pnemonia. Took her to the pulmonologist and he said that she did not have asthma and sent her for blood work as well as a CAT scan. In addition to this testing her ped reccomended that we test her for cystic fibrosis. Good news... no cystic fibrosis. Bad news, we still do not know what is wrong. She was on a different antibotic that she took through her machine and had to do 3 times a day. She was fine while on it but less than 24 hours after she is right back were we started.

Joe and I are wanting more than anything to have our baby girl healthy so if you have any extra prayers please send them our way.

We go back to the ped, the pulmonologist and the ENT in the next week or so. I will update as soon as we know mroe.

Pictures to come before then though... she is just getting so big!

Take care!

It has been a while!!

Nothing really new to report. We had Thanksgiving with both sides of the family and even Patrick.

Natalie's new thing is telling everyone what to do. "Mere Nana" "Mikey, NO" "Mommy sit" "Daddy go for a walk" or she will hand you the camera and say Cheese and will stay there until you have taken her picture.

Speaking of here are some from that weekend.

All Better!

Hi there!

All seems to be well in the McGuire Household with the exception of Joe having pink eye, yes from Natalie. But most importantly… NATALIE IS NOT SICK!!! Can you believe it?? For the first time in 18 months we can report that our daughter is happy, healthy and well! She is even sleeping through the night. We had one "Come to Jesus" nap time where she cried for about an hour straight and ever since then she has some wind down time about 8 and is asleep at about 8:30. Now the question is what does a parent do after their kid is asleep? Normally we would go to sleep ourselves since we had limited time to sleep but now if we do that we will get 11 hours of sleep. I am sure we can figure it out!

Well in true princess fashion Natalie loves the camera. We started out with just one picture

And ended up with a series because she kept saying "Again, Again"

Over the weekend we went and saw my Grandmother Busch. She is now in a nursing home and not doing all that well. Natalie loved speding time with everyone including her Nana

Hope all is well with everone!

I know you are all on the edge of your seat...

But, Natalie seems to be doing a lot better. It was rough until about Saturday. She would not take medicine, she would not drink, she would not eat. She has lost about 2.5lbs. This is about 10% of her body weight. I really hope that this solves the problem. She has been sleeping better the last couple of nights and playing well during the day. She goes back to the ENT for the full release on 10-3.

Poor Natalie!!!

Hello all!

Well we have met with the pulmonolgist and he says that all of her problems are above the neck. This means to us that she does not have asthma. This is a good thing. The bad part is that her tonsils are large and her adenoids are back. Her tonsils are not supposed to be in this picture. This is of her larynx and her tonsils.

This is just her tonsils

This is the regrowth of her adenoids. They are not supposed to cover more than 10% of the cavity shown

Since they are touching the larynx this causes her to cough all night and day. She is not sleeping well and has been put on a drug called Tussenex. This actually has vicidine in it. The doctors hope was that this would at least help her stop coughing at night. NO LUCK. She needs to pretty much sit up while she sleeps. We go back to see the ENT at the end of next week to discuss options at this point.

Now with all that said… does this look like a sick kid????

She loves her flash cards… we have to go through them EVERY night or she gets MAD

The neighbors have a mini car that Natalie is now obsessed with. She went out on her first car ride with a boy

Natalie telling the boy where to go…..

Hope you all are doing well. I will post more after we see the ENT
