It has been a while!!

Nothing really new to report. We had Thanksgiving with both sides of the family and even Patrick.

Natalie's new thing is telling everyone what to do. "Mere Nana" "Mikey, NO" "Mommy sit" "Daddy go for a walk" or she will hand you the camera and say Cheese and will stay there until you have taken her picture.

Speaking of here are some from that weekend.

All Better!

Hi there!

All seems to be well in the McGuire Household with the exception of Joe having pink eye, yes from Natalie. But most importantly… NATALIE IS NOT SICK!!! Can you believe it?? For the first time in 18 months we can report that our daughter is happy, healthy and well! She is even sleeping through the night. We had one "Come to Jesus" nap time where she cried for about an hour straight and ever since then she has some wind down time about 8 and is asleep at about 8:30. Now the question is what does a parent do after their kid is asleep? Normally we would go to sleep ourselves since we had limited time to sleep but now if we do that we will get 11 hours of sleep. I am sure we can figure it out!

Well in true princess fashion Natalie loves the camera. We started out with just one picture

And ended up with a series because she kept saying "Again, Again"

Over the weekend we went and saw my Grandmother Busch. She is now in a nursing home and not doing all that well. Natalie loved speding time with everyone including her Nana

Hope all is well with everone!

I know you are all on the edge of your seat...

But, Natalie seems to be doing a lot better. It was rough until about Saturday. She would not take medicine, she would not drink, she would not eat. She has lost about 2.5lbs. This is about 10% of her body weight. I really hope that this solves the problem. She has been sleeping better the last couple of nights and playing well during the day. She goes back to the ENT for the full release on 10-3.

Poor Natalie!!!

Hello all!

Well we have met with the pulmonolgist and he says that all of her problems are above the neck. This means to us that she does not have asthma. This is a good thing. The bad part is that her tonsils are large and her adenoids are back. Her tonsils are not supposed to be in this picture. This is of her larynx and her tonsils.

This is just her tonsils

This is the regrowth of her adenoids. They are not supposed to cover more than 10% of the cavity shown

Since they are touching the larynx this causes her to cough all night and day. She is not sleeping well and has been put on a drug called Tussenex. This actually has vicidine in it. The doctors hope was that this would at least help her stop coughing at night. NO LUCK. She needs to pretty much sit up while she sleeps. We go back to see the ENT at the end of next week to discuss options at this point.

Now with all that said… does this look like a sick kid????

She loves her flash cards… we have to go through them EVERY night or she gets MAD

The neighbors have a mini car that Natalie is now obsessed with. She went out on her first car ride with a boy

Natalie telling the boy where to go…..

Hope you all are doing well. I will post more after we see the ENT

Hello

Now for her health update. She went and saw a pulmonoligst and he put her on steroids to try and reduce the size of her tonsils. This did not work and temporarily changed her personality for the bad. So next week we go back and they will sick a tube with a camera on the end up her nose and down into her lungs to see if they can find a problem. I just want her to be well! I know it could be much worse though!! My compliance manager at work has a daughter the same age named Ella. Ella has been in the hospital for 2 weeks now with an enlarged heart and they just figured out why. Here is their website if you want to take a look. http://www.caringbridge.org/cb/inputSiteName.do?method=search&siteName=ellamcbride

It has been a while!!

WOW it has been a while… sorry.

Let's see. Natalie has had her adenoids out and this has helped tremendously. In addition we have gotten rid of our cats. The doctors said that they were part of her problem. The kitties now reside on a rescue farm about 2 hours from our house. We will continue to try and place them in a home if we hear of anyone but if not they are safe where they are.

Natalie had her adenoids out a week ago. Apparently your adenoids are supposed to be the size of your pinky fingernail. Hers were larger than the size of quarters. No wonder the poor thing was having trouble sleeping!! She could not breathe. About 2 weeks prior to surgery she moved into a queen size bed. We thought that part of her problem was that she was moving around so much and hitting her arm or head on the side of the crib. Now she has plenty of space. Since last week, after surgery, she has realized that sleep is GOOD. She is sleeping about 11 hours a night with waking about once to move around. Other than that it is pretty quiet around the McGuire house.

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!!!

Not much news but lots of pictures

Only thing new is that we are being forced to get rid of our cats. Her doctor thinks that, contrary to a lot of published studies, some of Natalie's health problems could be related to the cats. We were not happy to hear this but in the same breath happy to know of a way to fix the problem. We have contacted the non-kill shelters in the state as well as assisted living places and traveling nurses to see if they have any patients that would like some low maintenance cats. Hopefully we can find them a good home in the next week or so. On to pictures...
